SAMPLE

Why Sedona

For a woman traveling alone, that compactness matters in a practical way. Sedona has one main commercial spine, a scattering of trailheads within a few miles of it, and almost no part of the visitor experience that requires a car and nerve in equal measure, though a car helps. You can walk from a hotel in Uptown to a trailhead. You can catch a shuttle to the busiest trails and skip the parking problem entirely. You can spend four days here and never once feel like you are navigating a place too large to hold in your head.

PRACTICAL SAMPLE

Where to Eat, by Area

Uptown Sedona’s restaurants sit closest to the galleries and the Y junction, convenient after a morning at Tlaquepaque, and they run toward the pricier and more tourist-oriented end of the casual tier. West Sedona, strung along Highway 89A away from the tourist center, holds the town’s best value-to-quality ratio, with a mix of Southwestern, Italian, Asian and American casual restaurants at mid-range prices, largely patronized by residents and repeat visitors rather than the day-trip crowd. The Village of Oak Creek, south of Sedona proper near the Chapel of the Holy Cross, has a smaller but respectable cluster of restaurants, useful if your lodging or your day trip route takes you that direction, generally similar in price to West Sedona.

For Italian, Hideaway House and Picazzo’s Healthy Italian Kitchen are below.
